We are talking about the Restaurant BANK and former Credit Suisse building next to Helvetiaplatz. Only the exterior facade of this historic house lets you reminisce about the old days. When you enter the Restaurant BANK, you will be surprised by an open and modern concept, which suits perfectly to the environment of Kreis 4. Industrial look paired with fine marble counters and colorful floral arrangements make the restaurant Bank look extremely lively and hip. The built-in bakery „John Baker“ makes sure to provide us with our daily bread and contributes to the coolness of this place. A sophisticated overall concept.
The food is inspired by Israeli cuisine, where it is common to share different small dishes with friends. That's why you will find a lot of smaller meat, fish or veggie dishes and a lot of appetizers on the menu. If you are hungry, we recommend to order 3 – 4 dishes per person. Smoked Eggplant Puree, Baked Sweet Potato, Oriental Bulgur-Beef Tartare or Octopus Ragout are just a few examples what Chef Ramanan Thamotharampillai and his team is capable of. These extraordinary and surprising combinations taste fantastic and harmonize perfectly. They also offer normal dishes, if you do not like to share your food. The Restaurant BANK puts much emphasis on fresh products and pays careful attention to the ingredients and to sourcing seasonal produce and products. This devotion is reflected in the dishes, which come beautifully presented and decorated in small pans. Besides lunch and dinner, the Restaurant BANK also offers an extensive brunch on Saturday and Sunday (till 3 pm), which works on the same sharing-concept. Make sure to reserve your table early, because it is very popular and quickly booked out. Particularly worthy of mention here is the exquisite, high quality and wonderfully fragrant coffee, which is made with beans from Stoll Kaffee. Thanks to Cyrill aka „Pants“ and Joana for the special tasting and the great service. Perfect location to eat with friends, have a quick coffee or drink, to linger, relax and dream.
Summarizing we can say: The Restaurant BANK combines modern interior with historic structure and therefore provides the suitable ambiance for every occasion. The food comes true in the simplicity of genuinely oriental flavours rather than clichéd dishes and tastes delicious. The staff remained very friendly and courteous despite having a full house. A successful and harmonious concept all round. Highly recommended!
