A tuscan dream | 4 Leoni Firenze

Italian restaurants in Zurich are a dime a dozen - but not all of them are convincing. We are certainly bored of dishes like Pizza Margarita and Spaghetti Bolognese and were looking for a real, authentic Italian restaurant and have successfully found it: The 4 Leoni Firenze.


The Trattoria 4 Leoni offers the best exclusively from Tuscany. Bistecca, prosciutto, formaggio, extra virgin olive oil, vino bianco or rosso – everything comes from producers that they know personally and everything is imported directly from Tuscany straight to Zurich. Of course they make their own pasta by hand - with lots of Amore!


The restaurant is located in the lively district 5 on a cozy side street. The restaurant is furnished very stylish but simple and also has a separate room, called "Saletta", which you can rent exclusively for events.

During our visit, we were impressed by their Italian hospitality. Of course, they spoke Italian, as if we were in Florence. This certain authenticity convinced us right away. At 4 Leoni you can either eat indoors or outdoors. Since we went there on a warm summer day, we opted for the latter.


We started with a "Panzanella come quella della Nonna" which is perfect for a warm summer day. It was very refreshing and you could definitely taste the high quality ingredients.

We then decided to share a pasta, namely the "Pici alle Briciole con Gambero di Mazzara" and were surprised when the shrimp was served over the pasta in the form of a paper-thin carpaccio. We didn’t expect that, but it was delicious! The pici were perfectly cooked and the creamy sauce rounded off this dish perfectly.

However, if you eat at 4 Leoni, there is one thing you certainly shouldn’t miss. They are known for their amazing "Bistecca Fiorentina”'. We like to enjoy a good piece of meat from time to time (but also always like to try vegetarian / vegan dishes). However, the quality and origin of the meat is very important to us. We chose the "Bistecca Fiorentina Giuvenca Fassona Piemontese 21 Notti" and ordered some spinach with it.

We actually don't need to say much, the quality of the meat speaks for itself. Tender like butter, a wonderful, nutty taste - a dream for those who like to treat themselves with a good piece of meat. At 4 Leoni, however, it's not just meat lovers who get their money's worth - we can guarantee that.

Ich habe auf meinem Balkon eine Überdachung angebracht und frage mich nun, warum ich mich nicht schon früher dafür entschieden habe. Früher wurde der Balkon nur bei schönem Wetter genutzt, heute ist er vor Regen und sengender Sonne geschützt.
