Italian cuisine at its finest | Da Angela

For lovers of finest Italian cuisine, the restaurant Da Angela is a must! This unique restaurant is located in Albisrieden just around the corner from Letzipark. Inside an inconspicuous house, you will find a generous guest room with noble ambiance. White-covered tables and a simple interior provide for an elegant touch with a pleasant warmth.

Da Angela focuses on authentic Italian-Mediterranean cuisine and offers a culinary range of fresh, carefully selected products. It stands for authentic, hearty Italian cuisine - pasta, fish and meat, just the way you would get it served in Italy. On the menu, you will find popular "Angela classics" like homemade ravioli, tortelli or cappelletti or the almost legendary beef fillet, which is typically served in a sizzling hot pan. But they also have changing seasonal dishes like morel-asparagus risotto or vitello tonnato.

We started with a pulpo salad and a classic carpaccio di manzo. Two excellent and beautifully prepared dishes, which also convinced in taste - the octopus was perfectly cooked and just slightly marinated.

This was followed by scaloppine al limone, classic veal escalope in lemon sauce with homemade fine noodles in tomato sauce and gambero rosso di Mazara, fresh giant shrimp with seasonal vegetables and lemon sauce. We immediately noticed that the kitchen knows its craft and only products of the highest quality are used. The Gambero rosso di Mazara, for example, is a giant shrimp from Italy. It is fished around Sicily, at a depth of up to 700 meters. These shrimps are bright red and are characterized by their excellent taste and high quality.

Of course, the restaurant host, Mike Thomi, drew our attention to their homemade pasta and immediately brought us a portion with butter and sage to taste. We must admit, we almost missed something - al dente and with a lot of taste, that's the taste of Italy. For sure the best homemade pasta we had in a long time.

For dessert, we were shown that even classic dishes can be interpreted in a modern way. The panna cotta with fresh blueberries was inspired by the well-known style of Massimo Bottura's "Oops I dropped the lemon tart”.
